For quite time, I start to concern on how people are start to call me. There is a major problem with Sorenson compatible with different video relay service. It’s about the how the caller ID appears toward Sorenson VP200.

You see, when I test it by call from my Z4 to my VP200. You can see how wrong when it appear on the display from the history call listing. What’s wrong? It doesn’t appear as the local number. It’s only ip-address. When anyone, like me on VP200, tried make the redial from either history call listing or contact listing after add my “caller id”. It will dial as Ip-address instead the actual local number. It ends up bringing you to where you would only leave the video-message. It will NOT ringing to my Z4 from iPod or laptop.

What has hassle me is, that I have to remind everybody to make sure they add my Caller ID and then edit to change from Ip-address to my local number. It’s more work for them to do than simple add from the history call listing.

I find it un-compatible between videophone Service Company to videophone Service Company. They’re not well equal when someone miss the call and redial as number instead being different direct. I could blame to Sorenson.

So, I leave the feedback to ZVRS to be aware about my issues. I hope to see every videophone service to be equal on quality on video and satisfactory to call like every telephone Landlines/wireless Company does.

UPDATE: It also affect on Purple P3, too. I gave the feedback to Purple Staff, too.

I’m give the expression on good, bad and ugly side on iPhone 4 with Video Relay Service.

1. Name of Weblog is “PurpleDead”, I think that’s immature and pointless.
2. That weblog have only one and probably will never again.
3. Their profile doesn’t reveal, probably work for Sorenson, hard-cord fan of SVRS, etc.
4. The source given by Biz.Yahoo have no actual reference or original on whom report. (okay, maybe I don’t know that part)
5. The only true I know about Purple, they’re not bankrupt. Not yet, because there is no confirm at moment.

Don’t be jumpy until we have the actual fact information about Purple. Don’t be sorry for them, just do whatever you like their service or not. I only like them because I was able to use on my MacBook to use VRS with iChat.

Yet, there is Sprint Relay does offer software compatible for Mac and PC. I start to notice both are similar engineer software on how to use. I haven’t download when ZVRS was first introduce. This time, I was able to download from Sprint Relay’s site. And I found the source on where it comes from. It’s Mirial Softphone“>Mirial Softphone.

Look like Mirial have development, well, smart application that can be use both Mac and PC to make the video conferencing. It makes sense because it can be compatible with 4G wireless. What’s smart thing about Sprint, they would able to sell 4G modem to use for either PC or Mac laptop. It’s match in heaven to use anywhere.

Millions deaf have videophone. Is that cool or what? Someday when videophone, as I told early, would become the giant corporate like at&t to switch from telephone to videophone as new mainstream communicate at home.

Off subject, the advertisement are getting insane everyday… As you seen tattoo on forehead as ads as the individual had to walking in front of everybody to pay attention their ads. They’re buying! Or not…

Back to subject – make it put together, I thought. Oh, if there is such a public videophone company is use, in find way to earn that way keeps their business stay behind pay monthly on the service fee. Oh yeah, we still pay like we pay cable and watch ton commercial ads. Imagine! An advertisement to place on videophone while on waiting call!

I’m not saying there will be, that soon. Because the current what Video Relay Service are under federate fund. Obviously, they’re not allowing. So, I’m saying, what if VRS aren’t being fund by federate, make us and include hearing to pay the very very very low cost monthly on service fee and we still see annoying ads. Maybe it changes our mind that we want beer or something. Call me crazy!

I have been doing it with XMeeting on my own time to test all 15+ Video Relay Service (VRS). Yes, you can dial with full address instead ip-address (Ex. dialing usvrs.tv). It appears that XMeeting works well with any VRS, except Sorenson VRS that you cannot doing at home. Why? Because that VRS will be redirect to your VP-200 during the primary id-address that being recognition. Outside on Free or Paid Wi-fi is question if that work with Sorenson VRS. It’s safe to tell, don’t use it!

Anyway, back to XMeeting, as I told it works so well. BUT, it doesn’t work after 5 minutes when it become terrible quality as the relay agent wouldn’t able to see me in clearly. It becomes useless, unlike iChat.

I don’t think that XMeeting is not smart enough to keep the frame running smooth as iChat. That’s worst that I couldn’t use my smartphone as tethering to my computer to use as videophone anywhere. It appear on both view on mine view and their’s view to be worst lapse that relay agent wouldn’t accept my call. Use it on your own risk. I couldn’t recommend it as your videophone call with VRS. But the only one VRS I couldn’t promise but able to keep you with you is BiSVRS. Point-to-Point or computer to videophone will be okay for now.

Unless you know how to make configuration correct on Xmeeting’s setting. Neverless…. I’m wait for new update to improve! Hang on! Otherwise, I’m struck with HOVRS (VRS only) with iChat for a while.

First, I thought it would be good news to reduce download the illegal software or video. But it would be bad for user who uses iTunes to download LEGAL video. For a moment, I forget about videophone. It would be bad news. I figure on how much bandwidth it would use on video stream during base of one-hour conversation. It depends on heavy motion.

It doesn’t look good. I smell the riot over ISP issues. Okay, maybe send letter to communicate company is good to start to have them listen us. Fire away!

I got confuse with bits and bytes. Therefore, I make mistake and update the correct calculator. Therefore, it’s approximately 345 Mbytes per hour. It’s not too bad. I hope.

To me, it’s not worth for anyone to buy, which is too much. TOO MUCH, I tell ya!

Of course, as I mention on my other comment on my review about VPAD, I didn’t sold VPAD on eBay at all. But I sold to my friend who need it at same price what I paid.

• Easy setup, you hardly need anyone to install for you
• Able to call anyone through Viable’s screenname
• Allow you to use any Video Relay Service
• Great navigator by use touch-screen
• Out and Input Composit such as DVD player, digital camera, etc.

CON

• No battery, use only power adapter like normal videophone
• Power adapter cord is very short
• Touch-screen doesn’t respond, few miss to command, required to make confirm touch-screen through setup to make better respond
• No wireless, have to use USB Wi-Fi adapter (Annoying), use only ethernet cable
• Call person-to-person by use ip-address, if anyone don’t have Viable account or different videophone
• Setup Preference reset if plug power adapter off (Strange, contact and account are storage only)
• Composit input show poor quaity video appear – several dark spot

Final thought, don’t waste to buy one if you want be more freedom anywhere at home and travel. Use laptop with build-in wireless network and webcam is the best to have one, if you can afford one. Otherwise, you can get one when you want for another room, or get one for your family to keep in touch.
