Currently, iPod lineup is the ONLY media portable player that ever offers CC. Enjoy it when you can. I have quite amount of deaf actual own iPod, iPod Touch and iPhone, they can even enjoy over hundred of movies from iTunes with CC.

Good thing, there is still plenty movies with CC. Bad is, it wouldn’t know how much exactly there is. I would have to count myself. It’s such a waste time. However, here is simple step on the thumbnail that you should know where to find. Beware, it scrolls narrow slow during loading the information and picture of poster.

On second previous, there was over 90 movies, then last previous, it appear to be over 30. Now today, I see only ONE movie. What’s on Sam Hill is that?!?! I can tell that either their contract to place on iTunes has expired or studios become careless to place CC on iTunes. Of course, there is no FCC required on media portable player.

To tell you… I’m very disappointment as I thought I have faith on them. Neverless, I’m struck with HandBrake to rip DVD movies to waste my time and put in my iPod Touch. Probably 20% to 30% DVD are on SDH (Subtitle for Deaf and Hard of Hearing) available and most are on English Subtitle. If I see these DVD with only CC, I cannot rip the movie and put on iPod Touch. It’s useless. Thank a lot, studios, I hate you.

Is there closed caption on both rent and buy? Yes, I’m excited to tell you that both work great after I download both. Yes, you can realize the closed caption icon on information page before download. Unfortunately, no, you cannot see trailer with closed caption as test. I guarantee that you will see CC when you purchase or rent.

Make sure you have to iTunes’ preference and click “Playback” tab and look at somewhere middle that saying “Show closed captioning when available”. Check on the box and press OK.

Go to iTunes Store, but make sure you have account ready before you’re allow to buy or rent any video to download. Anyway, click “Movie” under the iTunes Store column.

Then go to Quick Links column, which on far right side, select “Browser” which would be easier to look on listing with CC available.

Select any gene listing; it will appear any listing with CC available as it show below. To select for movie’s features, click the arrow icon. It will take you to the information page.

The information page also show you the CC icon, you can either buy or rent. Enjoy it.

I suggest you don’t rush and buy iPod because it mention that it would only appear on AV as when plug from iPod to any TV with composite cable support.

That’s what CC look pretty like that way. Just same as normal standard closed caption.

The only few thing I’m disappointment that there are no CC available on TV shows after I would miss something from television show. So far, it’s early good start that show faith toward deaf and lacking English people who want to learn better.

The new lineup of iPod devices announced yesterday also includes the closed-captioning capability, and offers the ability to turn captions on or off within the “Video” settings. It is unknown at this point when firmware updates may be available to add this capabilities to existing devices like the Apple TV or iPhone.

I thought that’s GREAT! I would like to get iPod Touch next year when price cut, and more gig and more tv shows and movies available with CC.

Someone mention about iTunes 7.4 update that have Closed Caption features since QuickTime 7.2 update. I rush and update to check out lately update. It looks like they have make quite small step. It had been a year. Take a good look on some sample I took on screenshot.

Actually, that information is little mislead how to turn CC on.

So far, I have playing around on iTunes to find out through store if there any CC or subtitle support like seen on DVD cases’ back for information. Sadly to information, there is NONE even mention. That mean, it’s up to studios that should put CC or not. I wait for them doing that… Maybe we have to bully around with several studio to encourage some bandwidth to turn on/off for us, deaf to watch in portable instead big fat laptop.

There are two video that said Closed Captioning. I download to test to play. It doesn’t appear anything on computer. That’s disappointment. And I wish it’s TV or movie, not music video. Ugh. I felt so dirty.

Of course, I should add link if anyone are interest to show support to add feedback to Apple. I would like to remind you, it happen not long time ago I, not alone, have send feedback about DVD movie players that should add Closed Caption as optional than rather subtitle alone. And it work. So… please.

Be Honestly, I don’t really need to get iPod but rather focus on iTunes to watch DVD movies for low price. I would able to enjoy myself at home on my computer. Keep in mind, it’s also available for PC.

Once again, I’m going to remind Apple by send the feedback again. I won’t give up until every industry are gonna to listen. Of course, FCC need to listen, also which would make them remine all video and computer/software industry to make sure they have for loss hearing.

Maybe we won’t see light in 5 to 10 years. I gonna be old man! ARGH!
