I’m launching the new deaf social to be taking place at dinner. Deaf Taste Social is when we have meal together, socialize, share the experiences on food and drink from the local eateries. My goal is to choice the local to support, because they’re more unique and far experience than rather the chain restaurants.

How often will Deaf Taste Social host an event?
Deaf Taste Social will hold an event once a month at selected local restaurants in the metro area of Dallas & Fort Worth. Deaf Taste Social encourages its members to recommend locations for the future events.

Why is there limited availability of guests?
Deaf Taste Social will make the reservations based on the number of guests that are expected to participate at the next hosted location

I am NOT fluent in American Sign Language. Can I join with you?
Deaf Taste Social requires that all of its members use ASL. Please understand and respect Deaf individual’s needs to communicate and enjoy other’s limited company by having to accommodate new ASL learners or non signers.

The first event will held in north of Fort Worth, the name of restaurants is Chef Point Cafe. It’s new American and Seafood running by heart-soul American-African chef and owned. Make a reserve and it will happen to you something amazing!

Where is the best place to be involved with deaf community at online?

Forums
Alldeaf.com is the first internet deaf community I have been involved in. It’s the largest I have experienced and I met several people after I have
know them online for a long time. I would recommend you join and get to know people there by posting on forums to discuss almost everything.

There are a few more online places other than alldeaf.com where there are more specific focus on different deaf groups such as deaf mom, UK for deaf, and much more that you can find on engine search.

Facebook
Everybody may have Facebook, some may not be aware there are deaf groups. It makes great connections with the group in the LOCAL deaf community.

Make sure you find groups that are still active, then you have a better chance to make connections. It also is ideal for travelers–you can find another deaf group to get involved when you are traveling there.

Blogger
There are thousands of bloggers out there including me. There is a slim chance you will meet them and then know more about parts of their life. Some prefer to keep private because of different reasons. I suggest you to make comments, say something inspiring in response to their blog. They would be happy to reply to your comments. You can start with DeafRead.com, it’s sort of a good guide that can led you find blogs to follow.

Please, don’t be anonymous, you may not get any benefit from them.

Twitter
It’s a micro-blog, they say pretty much anything. You can follow deaf people and read their tweets of whatever they want to say. Unlike blogs, you can respond to them with short comments, like if it’s a text. Only thing, Twitter can keep going up and down like a rollercoaster. Keep up, you get something great. Good start to follow @deafmom, @deafcoffee and @marleematlin. You can also follow me on @illustratorblog.

Reddit
It’s small, I recently started going there few months ago. I’m not sure about the deaf community on there to say anything about them. Once you get used to it, you might meet more deaf at /r/deaf or /r/asl.

However, don’t take the trolls too seriously–ignore them. They’re just ignorant about Deaf habits and Deaf perspectives.

The restaurants called ViUDA Bistro, own by deaf. They have 2 deaf chefs, they’re talent cooker.

Location
ViUDA Bistro, the restaurant is located in Buda, which is south of Austin at the historic downtown area, which is inspired me. The place make it very special place to eat.

Place
Inside, it’s cozy, mix the old building with some modern art place on wall and ceil where the windows are hang up there. My friend assuming that it’s clever because “ViUDA” is considered refers to windows and widow. I wasn’t sure if that quite right. However, I enjoy spend time to sit down and look around in the room.

Service
The hosting is very friendly and suddenly greeting in American Sign Language (ASL). I feel like we’re in for business to order something from the waitresses who are some familiar with ASL. No need to speed up, the fast you get, you might lose taste.

Menus
I see lot of good listing such as steak and paste in unique visual on meals. Most are full of surprise. Yet, I’m in mood for good steak. It’s very tasty; I can tell they’re so fresh. Yet, they’re little expensive, I would say it’s $$$ out of $$$$$. Hey, there have Yak steak, it’s most expensive from I seen so far. I’ll try when I come back again.

Overall
I’ll come back again. I haven’t get chance to meet deaf chefs. They’re so busy to cook for many customers. Only the quite time I had with the hosting and the owner. They’re also helpful when we weren’t familiar on some meals on what or how we suppose to eat. They’re available open on most weekend on evening. Check their video in ASL! Sorry, no closed caption!

Are you excited to have ntouch VP comes to replace your VP200? Yet, I have been wonder about several things that I would like to share with you.

How quality is it?
Are you excite that display would be much clear to see your boyfriend/girlfriend, friend or family’s face and hand? Of course, we do.

However, my theory, it would be much as 720p streaming on the medium package from DSL/Fiber that everybody would afford to have that faster high-speed. I cannot recommend you to have low-end cable high-speed during the vary speed by time and time.

Too wired!
That would be 5 wired connect to ntouch VP’s rear panel:

• USB for web cam
• Ethernet for Internet access
• RJ11 (tele-jack) for visual tele-signal alert
• HDMI or Composite AV for television to display
• Power to outlet

Are you complaining about it? I do.

Why no wireless?
My assuming, it required the license fee to produce the own equipment. ZVRS do NOT own the product, brought from CISCO’s and Creative’s. Purple and other VRS provide only application to place on iOS and Android device, which it includes, wi-fi. Thank to bigger corp. that can afford.

That’s way we get FREE videophone equipment. Make everybody happy.

It can be also other reason that wireless isn’t always great at keep up with firmware when it need update and can be failure through wireless but rather solid wired.

You still can find a way to set as wireless with adapter that is similar as one I post.
*Be aware that I may have no confirm or source that these can be true

It has 2 USBs, Ethernet, HDMI, RJ11 (tele-jack), Composite AV and power plug. I’m relief to know that it would support to our telephone visual signaler equipment.

I have good assuming about HDMI, it may or will be either 720p or 1080p while the streaming will be just 480p. During my sense with technology, it would be accept on affordable high-speed that would support, at least, a good quality of video.

However, my friend, who is computer whiz, explain that to have 720p streaming, it need, at least 768 kpbs. That sound nice, as if ntouch VP might would support. Then our eyes will totally blew up with plenty of drool.
